Backcountry Santa 2022
Dear Friends of the Backcountry Santa Pilots:
We are ramping up for our annual holiday flight to the Navajo Nation, which is scheduled for December 16, 2022. Delivering supplies to the Navajo Nation is fun and meaningful!
If you are willing to volunteer your time and aircraft, we could use your assistance flying donated food, gifts, and necessities to Monument Valley, Montezuma Creek, and Navajo Mountain. Backcountry-capable pilots/aircraft will fly supplies to dirt airstrips at Montezuma Creek and Navajo Mountain, and pilots/aircraft better suited to paved runways will fly supplies to Monument Valley for further shuttling to Montezuma Creek and Navajo Mountain and other locations by backcountry-capable pilots/aircraft. The mission will depart from Salt Lake International Airport on the morning of Friday, December 16, but pilots not in the Salt Lake Area may pick up their load in Monument Valley. If the December 16 date does not work due to weather, the backup date will either be Wednesday, December 14 or Monday, December 19.
If you are available to participate in this event, please sign up on our website: https://www.backcountrysanta.org/join-our-cause. The sign up deadline is Friday, December 2, 2022. If you've signed up before, please sign up again - that way we know you are available and interested in participating in the December 2022 mission. Those who submit a Pilot Questionnaire and Agreement will be provided mission information via email.
WE NEED YOUR HELP! This is a fantastic opportunity to fly over beautiful Utah and serve those in need at the same time.
With kind regards,
Michael Wardle, Mike Huish, and Regan Richmond
