All Airstrip Reports
It looks like there are two parallel airstrips, but I think the real airstrip is the one on the right in the photo. The airstrip is not as bad of a condition as it might seem. There is a minor erosion across the runway surface. The center of the airstrip is clumpy grass, landable, but sagebrush is encroaching uncomfortably close on the sides. Spectacular panoramic view of the Bears Ears at the north end of the airstrip. This airstrip is worth saving.
The airstrip has people-sized small trees. Runoff erosion cuts across the airstrip in a couple of places. This airstrip would need chainsaws and heavy equipment to refurbish. The airstrip has been neglected for so long that I believe that the BLM would say this one has been reclaimed by nature. Unsafe for landing.
Airstrip has 2-track rutted road along the south length. The north length is full of sagebrush. No place to land at the moment. Cleanup will take more than a drag. Spectacular canyon overlook on the east end. This airstrip would be one of Uta’s jewels once it is refurbished. Notice the herd of cattle in the lower right on one of the photos.
