Taylor Flat Re-opening | Utah Back Country Pilots Association

Taylor Flat Re-opening

The UBCP will be hosting a work party likely in May 2026 to restore the airstrip to a safe working condition. Today, 30 Sep 2025 UBCP Board Members Wendy Lessig, John Clayton, and Roy Evans II met with the Daggett County Commission to finish the last of the paperwork and complete an assessment of the work needed at the airstrip with the assistance of UBCP Member Scott Conner. A plan of attack is currently being developed to support the re-opening efforts.

Taylor Flat is open!

Thanks to the efforts of Utah RAF liaison Wendy Lessig, the UBCP and the RAF are pleased to announce that Taylor Flat has been restored and is now open for private, non-commercial recreational use.

Volunteers turned out with skid steers, buckets, tools, and plenty of food to get the job done. The runway was driven at 50mph post-work and is in good backcountry condition — the east side is a bit smoother. Pilots should be aware of power lines approximately half a mile off the west end; with a normal approach they won't be a factor. Do not land where the X's are marked.

A huge thanks to everyone who came out and put in the work to bring this airstrip back.
