The Little Dolores Airstrip has been closed by the BLM. The Colorado side of the airstrip has been a wilderness area since 2001 and the Colorado side of airstrip was closed at that time. The Utah side of the airstrip was never officially opened or recognized by the BLM. The airstrip is is marked with log "X"es to make clear that both the Utah and Colorado sides of the airstrip are closed.  Please do not land at the Little Dolores Airstrip.

Does anyone know if this is "legal" to land? Its right on the edge of Black Ridge Canyons Wilderness boundary and I've heard conflicting information if this is on BLM land. I flew over today and made a couple of inspection passes and it looks to be in good shape.

It is legal to land at Little Dolores but as you mentioned you have to be very careful with the overlapping Black Ridge Canyons Wilderness Area. I can't upload a picture but at least 1/3 of the eastern portion of the runway resides within the wilderness area, and would be unusable. to be safe if you can use and stay within the western 50% (half) where this is a sandy area adjoining the runway that looks like a parking area-the wilderness boundary is just to the east of this area and to the west is indeed BLM. I have spoken with the BLM field office and this strip is contentious and may be closed in the near future. Also be mindful as there is privately owned land just to the south and west of the airstrip.
