Description: Mineral Canyon's airstrip resides in the Green River canyon just south of the Bowknot Bend. River has a tendency to flood during the summer, so a thorough review of the airstrip prior to landing is imperative. Mineral Canyon is one of the three back country airstrips included in the State's "FLY UTAH Passport Program". To learn more, head to their website.

Runway: 2000 ft long x 40 ft wide dirt runway in generally good condition, however can be quite soft due to its propensity to flood.

Approach Considerations: Airstrip resides inside a canyon with rapidly rising terrain within 1000 feet of the airstrip rising over 1000 feet above the landing surface. Base jumping and other low-level aircraft operating around and near the airstrip. Please monitor CTAF and make position reports regularly.

The airstrip is in nice shape and dry. Some minor ruts but nothing too concerning. I'm always amazed that the winds can be around 10 -15 kts above the canyon walls but calm in this canyon.

Runway is in decent shape. There were a few ruts and cow footprints up to about an inch in depth at spots. It's a little soft from recent moisture, especially on the ends. My 5.00-5's left some light indentations but it was no problem even with wheel pants on. If possible, recommend avoiding this strip for another few days until it dries out completely. What a great spot!

Runway surface in good condition and solid. However, a little bit uneven on the North-East end as mentioned in last report.

First ~500' of R33 is a bit muddy with some snow yet to melt; middle and NW parts have dried. Cattle footprints have caused widespread ~2” holes and bumps along R33 to the parking area, not an issue for my 850s, just not as smooth as it was in the fall.

Really fun strip. Plenty of room for my 90 horses to get me off the ground. It’s in great shape, I’d say it’s smoother than the gravel strip at CNY. The mentioned “white pole in cairn” is gone on the south end, but it’s fairly obvious you don’t want to touch down in the weedy southern 100’.
