Description: Mineral Canyon's airstrip resides in the Green River canyon just south of the Bowknot Bend. River has a tendency to flood during the summer, so a thorough review of the airstrip prior to landing is imperative. Mineral Canyon is one of the three back country airstrips included in the State's "FLY UTAH Passport Program". To learn more, head to their website.

Runway: 2000 ft long x 40 ft wide dirt runway in generally good condition, however can be quite soft due to its propensity to flood.

Approach Considerations: Airstrip resides inside a canyon with rapidly rising terrain within 1000 feet of the airstrip rising over 1000 feet above the landing surface. Base jumping and other low-level aircraft operating around and near the airstrip. Please monitor CTAF and make position reports regularly.

I know, it was Friday the 13th! Couldn’t pass up landing here on the way home from Moab. Great strip by the river. Clean camp sites and runway in good shape. Runway turns to softer sandy on the north 1/3. Landed 33, took off 15. Cool, fast climbing day! Love the little Husky!

The strip was firm and smooth. Didn't notice any soft spots and there is minimal grass or weed growth.

The first 100' or so of 32 is very soft. There is a cairn with a white pole sticking out of it indicating approximately where the soft area begins. If taking off north recommend not taxiing beyond that cairn/pole.

Both times we’ve landed here in last couple of weeks, there were mule deer on the grassy end of the southern end of the strip...they ran off when they heard us coming!

Flew into Mineral Canyon and the strip is in good shape. Some grass growing on the south end but nothing too high. The surface was pretty firm and I hardly left any imprint in the sand. Minor ruts in the middle but nothing too bad.
