All Airstrip Reports
First time landing this strip and its in good shape. I landed westbound (rwy 3) just after the road that crosses about 1/3 of the way from the west end. There is a sizable rut about 2/3 down rwy 3 but was easy enough to avoid when moving slowly. If you were to use rwy 21, I'd land past the rut. There is a windsock, but it's on a rig just north of the field, and I could check the winds.
There is a herd of cattle grazing there. Lots of cow poop on the runway and curious cows came to take a look after landing. Be sure to do a pass to check. Sock in good condition. Color and material fading, probably last until spring.
The walking hamburger factory still loitering all over the strip as of 12-31-25
5 months agoDid a flyby of Sam's Mesa N to S. The strip looks mostly overgrown and sandy with a slightly crooked two track running down it. Some work could probably get it usable for some bigger tire planes especially more towards the southern end. This is an amazing and remote area. Here is a video of it: https://photos.app.goo.gl/FLTw97PGdmCSecYMA
