Zach Holt visited Grand Gulch 6 months ago in a PA-18 with 19” tires

Runway 17/35 is in pretty decent condition for a remote dirt airstrip. It is pretty narrow and has sections that are pretty rough, but overall it was pretty decent. I didn’t inspect much of runway 03/21, as it was mostly overgrown with short grass/weeds. It did however look pretty smooth over the first few hundred feet from the NE end of 21 where it intersects 17/35. There’s a visitor log at the mine. I counted 9 aircraft owners who had signed the log in the past few months, and about a dozen side-by-side/quad’s. Seems like a relatively well traveled area. Even with 29” wheels, the runway was pretty rough at the intersection of the runways. I would suggest the following: Landing northbound (35): Land just north of the runway intersections OR land at the far south end of 35 and plan to be stopped before the runway intersections. Landing southbound (17): Land at the far north end of the runway and plan to be stopped by the runway intersections.

Dean Baker visited Hidden Splendor 6 months ago in a Cessna 170B with 8.50 tires

Runway is in great shape. I landed on runway 16 as the Winds were from the south. Not prefered runway but very doable. The terrain makes for a steeper approach to 16. The slope is only 1.65 so not that noticeable. Had the whole place to myself

Bill Hawley visited La Sal Junction Airport 6 months ago in a Zenith 750SD with 27 tires

Runway has been improved with all the brush gone. Land beyond the road accross the runway on the west end. Windsock on east end not on a pole.

Paul Barry visited Angel Point 6 months ago in a Maule M-5 with 26" tires

The windsock has been replaced and thanks to Sam, Bruce and Randy for helping with that. Both runways have been graded and are in good shape. The long runway has some tire ruts in the middle from some 'bright spark' who decided to drive a Jeep or ATV on the runway while it was wet!

John Belz visited Boulder / New Home Bench 7 months ago in a Cessna 185 with 29" tires

The runway is quite long for a backcountry strip, 3500-4000' depending on where you start counting, but heavily rutted by cars heading to the Boulder Mail Trailhead particularly at the south end. A road crosses the strip midway, near the blue fuselage/windsock mast and there is substantial erosion. You wouldn't want to hit that at high speed. The best bet seems to be to land to the northwest, beyond the fuselage. That still gives you about 2,000 feet and an uphill grade. In any case, a low-pass is recommended to get oriented with respect to the major ruts.

Thomas Atwell visited Cedar Mountain 7 months ago in a Scout with 31 tires

Runway is in fine shape. Some scrub growing along the edges but no issue. Camped on a cold night.
