I overflew this strip and there are construction machines parked on the strip as part of highway resurfacing. Do not land!

Caution, there are some stock watering troughs approximately 300 feet from the approach end of Rwy 15. They are set on the side in the “rough” area, though from the air, they appear on the landing surface. They stand about 3 feet high. Also, there are several cows in the vicinity. Aside from that, strip is in great condition as always.

Awesome visit to do the slot canyon hike. Directions are spot on. Head up the road west to the spring and hike down, need rope and gear to complete the 40’ rappel. Great 2.5 hour adventure. Airstrip conditions were quite good. Windsock is missing but big pole is still present, Great candidate to fix up.

I landed to the south east, and took off to the northwest. That seemed like the best area. It looks like there might have been a cross wind strip at one time as well that also looked usable but still a dirt road. The landable part of the strip is a dirt rd and slopes slightly uphill to the southeast. It is in ok condition but somewhat narrow. There is a wash out that’s not too bad about 2/3 of the way headed to the northwest. The usable area is about 1000 to 1200 feet. The parts of the runway that are not the road are overgrown with sage. There’s also a pipe across the northwest section in that overgrown area. It is a fun one!

Josef Bostik visited Eagle City (Eagle Benches South) 10 months ago in a CanAm

Drove by on my CanAm. Inspected the whole airstrip. It's in great condition except for some loose rocks. Walked the whole runway clearing the biggest handsize rocks. The runway has very short grass vegetation. I do not believe after rain mud is an issue. I left 2 rockpile markers on each side of the west runway(landing uphill) to land beyond. The first few hundred feet are rocky. Protect your prop by landing longer. The last portion of the runway west end is also rocky. There is plenty of parking anywhere. Watch for rebar edge markers. I found one and removed it. Old surface mine is to the south in a slot canyon on Crescent Creek that is not accessible. Great access to the Henry's if you bring a bike. Water is scarce at this time. Saw bear, cats, bucks. Road is well maintained.

there are couple of ways to scramble down to the slot canyon and there is usually water in it.

UDOT has installed a tripod-style SayWeather weather station ~40ft South of the windsock parallel to the airstrip. Parking area is not affected. Text reporting option and website information will be available shortly, keep an eye out for it!

The airstrip is narrow and has plenty of rocks. Larger tires for sure, and good rudder control. No windsock. The incline is great to fast stop and quick take off. Probably not a destination airstrip, but nice to have for us folks who live in St. Geroge area.
