Marc Lassaux visited McCook Ridge 10 months ago in a ICP Savannah S with 21 tires

This was my first time landing at McCook. Nice area. Great campsite on the south end. I landed to the north on the southern half of the runway. That looked to be the better part and aligns with the report from Randy Owen. The two track down the middle isn’t too bad.

Marc Lassaux visited Boulevard Ridge 10 months ago in a ICP Savannah S with 21 tires

Landed Boulevard today. The previous report from Randy Owen still applies and is still accurate. Fun strip, in a really cool area I would like to come back and hike with more time. I would call this one more advanced of a backcountry strip because of the meandering two track and sagebrush and high density altitude.

Runways in good condition. Runway 36 has tall grass 75-100’ from threshold in landing surface. Windsock getting tattered and shows wind direction.

Airstrip is in very good condition. Two track on the north side of the strip isn’t deep and still leaves plenty of room beside for landing. Walking trails nearby take you to the canyon rim, and there are campsites along the strip and by the 815 track at the south end. Thanks to those who maintain the strip and replace the windsocks.

Landed to the NW. Runway graded, no ruts. Watch for rocks on runway. Watch the video on YouTube. It helps a lot.

Landed to the west past the grassy area that covers first portion of the runway, took off to the south from the very west end. West end has soft stuff, but nothing unmanageable with 8.5 tires. I taxied all the way to the east end past the grassy patch and the runway was better there than on the west end. I will use the whole runway in both directions next time. Definite danger of the airstrip turning into a mud nightmare with any kind of precipitation. Its all just river silt.
